Compassionate, evidence-based therapy for adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and life's difficult transitions. A safe space to heal, grow, and find your way forward.
Every person deserves a space where they feel truly heard, respected, and understood — without judgment.— Marsha Engle, LCSW
I'm Marsha Engle, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Education degree and over two decades of experience helping individuals navigate life's most challenging moments.
My practice is built on the conviction that healing happens in the context of a genuine, trusting relationship. Whether you're struggling with anxiety that won't quiet down, depression that makes getting out of bed feel impossible, trauma that still echoes, or a major life transition that has left you unmoored — you don't have to face it alone.
I work with adults in a warm, collaborative, and confidential setting. My approach is tailored to you — drawing from evidence-based techniques while honoring your unique story, values, and goals.
Each person I work with is unique, and therapy is no one-size-fits-all. Here are some of the areas I specialize in — but your concerns are valid even if they fall outside these categories.
When worry, racing thoughts, or constant tension make it hard to function, find relief through practical strategies and deep emotional work in a safe, supportive environment.
When everything feels heavy, grey, or pointless — you deserve compassion and real help. I work with you to uncover what's underneath and rebuild a sense of hope and engagement.
Past experiences shouldn't dictate your present. I provide a grounded, trauma-informed approach to help you process what happened and reclaim your sense of safety and control.
Divorce, career change, loss, becoming a parent — transitions can upend everything. Let's work through the grief, uncertainty, and opportunity that come with major life shifts.
Whether it's conflict, communication breakdowns, codependency, or difficulty setting boundaries — improve how you connect with others and with yourself.
When self-doubt, shame, or a fractured sense of self hold you back, we'll gently explore the roots and build a stronger, more compassionate relationship with who you are.
I draw from several evidence-based modalities — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and psychodynamic therapy — and tailor the work to your specific needs, pace, and goals.
What binds it all together is a deep respect for your inner wisdom and resilience. I'm not here to tell you what to do — I'm here to walk alongside you, help you see clearly, and support you in making the changes that matter.
You are the expert on your life. We build the therapeutic plan together.
My methods are grounded in research and proven clinical practice.
Every interaction is guided by an understanding of trauma's impact.
Your background, identity, and experiences shape the work we do.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like something needs to change — therapy can help. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit. Many people come to therapy during difficult transitions, when relationships feel strained, or simply when they want to understand themselves more deeply.
The first session is about getting to know each other. I'll ask about your background, what brings you in, and what you're hoping for in therapy. It's also your chance to see if you feel comfortable with me — because that rapport is one of the strongest predictors of progress.
Please reach out directly to discuss insurance and fee information. I'm happy to work with you to find a path forward that fits your circumstances.
It depends on your goals and the nature of what you're working through. Some people find relief in a handful of sessions; others benefit from longer-term exploration. We'll discuss this together and adjust as needed.
Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share stays between us, with very limited legal exceptions (such as imminent danger to self or others). We'll discuss this in detail during our first meeting.
I'm located at 319 Edwin Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. The office is easy to find and has convenient parking. Please contact me to confirm availability and schedule your appointment.
